Cimberio Energy Efficency

Cimberio Energy Efficency

Buildings are responsible for more than one third of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU.

Within the sector, heating, cooling and ventilation plants account for half of the energy used and contribute to air pollution, which remains a critical environmental challenge in the EU.

In order to strongly promote the energy and ecological transition of the real estate sector in 2020, the European Commission approves the Renovation Wave strategy.

Two words that indicate the improvement of the energy performance of buildings with a first objective, in the territory of the European Union, to double the rates of renovation in the next ten years in order to reduce the consumption of energy and resources of buildings. This means promoting the in-depth renovation of more than 35 million buildings.

To reach this goal, it is necessary to bring together different tools and skills, adopting increasingly high-performance building automation systems.

Wireless systems guarantee reduction of costs and installation times, the scalability and flexibility of the solution quickly reconfigurable, upgradable, expandable and adaptable to changing configurations, intended use.

Within this framework, Cimberio Energy Efficiency has thought to design and manufacture products that can meet these conditions and be able to monitor and control buildings in a simple and fast way, to increase the efficiency index of European buildings.

Cimberio Energy Efficiency is made up of comprehensive and effective building energy management:
  • Knolval TM, the smart energy valve
  • sensors, meters, edge and firmware controllers
  • Niagara software platform
  • cloud algorithms for energy efficiency, and plant optimization.

FEATURES

Cimberio Energy Efficiency delivers a comprehensive set of solutions compliant with the highest standards of UNI ISO 52120 on BACS.
Check here the compliance of your BACS with EPBD 2024/1275 prescription for non residential buildings.
Here some examples:

Chillers and Heat pumps

  • Water temperature control in the distribution network (flow or return): Control based on thermal (cooling) demand
  • Distribution pump control: Variable speed pump control, solving the problem of low delta T
  • Generator control: Variable temperature dependent on load
  • Sequential control of different generators: sequence based on load forecast (priorities based on expected loads)
  • Monitoring, analysing and benchmarking the performance of chillers and HPs for multi-site customers, using models to normalise performance indices (EER and COP) to operating conditions

AHU

  • Room air supply control: Air quality-dependent control (load-dependent – demand based control)
  • Control of external air flow: Variable control (continuous control depending on the number of people present and/or air quality parameters)
  • Free mechanical cooling: Enthalpy control (control based on air temperature and humidity)
  • Supply air temperature control (control of air temperature at inlet to AHU/CTA or AHU): Variable set point with load dependent compensation

Room Control

The morphology of most European buildings, with important masonry structures and an important surface area and volumetry of the buildings, requires the wireless system to provide a wide coverage and its operation to be predictable and stable under the various possible operating conditions, commissioning and maintenance to be simple, easy and fast and high reliability over time guaranteed, the autonomy of self-powered devices is reasonably extended, the transmission powers are minimal and the immunity to disturbances is high.
Cimberio Energy efficiency assure:
  • Control of each terminal with wireless communication between controllers (electronic terminal valves) and BACS
  • Control of temperature, relative humidity and key air quality parameters (CO2, OVC)

Software

We connect devices, integrate systems and enable information exchange on the established Niagara IoT platform for centralised management, control and analysis of HVAC systems.
The platform makes use of machine learning that allows the adoption of predictive models and the activation of the best operating settings to increase the efficiency of the systems, reducing energy consumption and optimising room comfort.
Finally, we provide tailored solutions and energy management services for customers with large real estate assets.

NIAGARA- The IoT framework for the interoperability

niagara schema

The Niagara Framework technology enables the connection, standardization, integration and interoperability of different devices and equipment in a common environment; supports multiple integrated platforms and integrates multi-vendor systems in real time into a single scalable and extensible platform.

Effective integration and interoperability among systems (e.g. HVAC, energy monitoring, intelligent lighting, anti-intrusion, access control, etc.) allows to:

  • improve the  building performance
  • reduce costs, consumption and carbon dioxide emissions
  • achieve optimal levels of safety and comfort

Hardware

Knolval Cim-9750 is an eco-system of electronic valves integrated by a control and monitoring system for managing commercial and industrial HVAC plants; suitable for new plants or for retrofitting existing installations.

IoT

Our products, based on the LoRa communication protocol, make up a wide range of monitoring tools and are unique in the European panorama, wireless terminal control and room controllers.
Our products, based on the LoRa communication protocol, are:

IGW07

A Receiver/Gateway for the management of up to 64/128 devices (temperature, relative humidity, VOC – Volatile Organic Compounds, CO2 concentration, data acquisition devices – impulses, analogue, power meters, thermal energy meters, UNIT-WIR, HVAC-WIR etc.).

IWXP2

The IWXP2 wireless panel lets users acquire and centralise temperature and humidity information for the room where it is placed. It is also fitted with a dial that is used to change the desired Set Point value in the room. The panel uses the transmission technology required by the LoRa® standard, which guarantees broad coverage with no need for signal repeaters.

IWC01

Wireless Controller for monitoring and managing radiator or other HVAC terminal manifolds. It works as a freely programmable controller within the Wireless Intellienergy Tech system.

IWC02

Wireless controller for monitoring and managing Fan Coils or other HVAC terminals. It functions as a configurable controller within the Wireless Intellienergy tech system.

RDW16

Consumption, without battery, for individual room control. The new electronic winter heating system control valve uses heat dissipation between the radiator and the space to obtain electrical energy using a thermoelectric generator, and does not use disposable batteries.

IWTD4

The wireless probes allow for the acquisition and centralisation of the temperature information for the rooms in which they’re installed.

ICC03-ICON50

The unit consists of a freely programmable DDC (Direct Digital Control) controller. It can be programmed using the FLOWER platform’s integrated tools and the BAOBAB local configuration tool.

IEC09 – EDGE

Created for the local or remote management of medium to large plants through the I/Os and the interoperability offered by embedded framework platforms (Niagara-FIN) with specific connectors, thus allowing for the management of complex
systems.
